An advantage of CC is that it bridges a gap between family systems thinking and efficacy theory, where extant research and theory have focused on the self-efficacy of one or both parents. This study aimed to develop a self-reported measure of CC. Methodology: Participants (n = 302), including cohabiting mothers (n = 240) and fathers (n = 62), completed an online survey (112 items) comprising demographic questions, the Coparenting Relationship Scale (CRS), the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC), the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and 36 items designed to explore perceptions of CC. Results: Factor analyses on 36-CC items identified 10 items that reliably formed a brief Coparenting Competence Scale (CCS; Alpha = 0.89). Analysis of convergent and divergent validity demonstrated that the CCS measures a unique construct that is linked to parenting self-efficacy, measured by PSOC (r = 0.47), and coparenting quality, assessed by the CRS (r = 0.63). There was a significant association between CCS and SDQ across age groups and an association stronger than that found for the CRS and SDQ in the current cohort. Conclusions and Implications: The study found support for the reliability and validity of the CCS. Coparenting competence, assessed by the CCS, was found to be distinct from factors previously used to represent coparenting quality in multivariate scales. The strength of associations between the CCS and SDQ suggests this new measure may have an important role in coparenting research.]]> Wed 27 Sep 2023 15:30:02 AEST ]]> Examining social-cognitive theory constructs as mediators of behaviour change in the active team smartphone physical activity program: a mediation analysis https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45226 Wed 26 Oct 2022 15:49:16 AEDT ]]> Predictors of breast feeding self-efficacy in the immediate postpartum period: a cross-sectional study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:25416 Wed 23 Feb 2022 16:02:25 AEDT ]]> Interrelations between enhanced emotional intelligence, leadership self-efficacy and task-oriented leadership behaviour–a leadership coaching study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47128 Wed 14 Dec 2022 14:38:27 AEDT ]]> The effectiveness of social media intervention in people with diabetes: An integrative review https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52026 Wed 13 Mar 2024 07:53:17 AEDT ]]> Preservice teacher self-efficacy for enhancing students’ long-term interest in science https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:44381 Wed 12 Oct 2022 11:20:25 AEDT ]]> Sustaining modified behaviours learnt in a diabetes prevention program in regional Australia: the role of social context https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15203 Wed 11 Apr 2018 16:56:38 AEST ]]> Investigating the role of situational interest in developing individual interest in science and self-efficacy to teach science in preservice primary teachers https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16482 Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:48:04 AEST ]]> Parental influences on child physical activity and screen viewing time: a population based study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:10385 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:15:59 AEST ]]> A case for theoretical integration: combining constructs from the theory of planned behavior and the extended parallel process model to predict exercise intentions https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:18031 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:07:15 AEST ]]> Psychological capital and training transfer motivation: the role of pre–training positive affect https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11629 Wed 11 Apr 2018 13:37:02 AEST ]]> Motivation for learning: an implicit decision-making process https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29163 Wed 11 Apr 2018 13:00:16 AEST ]]> Rates of intentional and unintentional nonadherence to peritoneal dialysis regimes and associated factors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:26076 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:55:40 AEST ]]> The psychological wellbeing of parents and foster carers: the role of self-efficacy and challenging behaviours https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14439 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:54:23 AEST ]]> Measuring social competence, task competence and self-protection in an organisational context https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5832 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:24:37 AEST ]]> The case for health behaviour model comparison and theoretical integration: comparing and combining predictions of models in order to optimise the prediction of health behaviours https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:21621 Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:02:11 AEST ]]> Patients' needs regarding rehabilitation services delivered via mobile applications after arthroplasty: A qualitative study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:53708 Wed 10 Jan 2024 11:02:58 AEDT ]]> The relationship between professional development opportunities and teacher self-efficacy beliefs: a mixed-method hermeneutic phenomenology study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50348 Wed 06 Mar 2024 14:51:15 AEDT ]]> Coparenting competence in parents of children with ASD: a marker of coparenting quality https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:34409 Wed 06 Mar 2019 10:42:34 AEDT ]]> Web-based versus home-based postnatal psychoeducational interventions for first-time mothers: a randomised controlled trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37065 Wed 06 Apr 2022 14:03:21 AEST ]]> Who are the support persons of haematological cancer survivors and how is their performance perceived? At baseline, participants completed SCT scales related to physical activity (i.e., self-efficacy, intention, parental support, and outcome expectations). At baseline and 12-month follow-up (postintervention), participants wore accelerometers for 7 days. Structural equation modeling was used to determine if Time 1 measures predicted physical activity at 12-month follow-up after adjusting for baseline activity. Results: The model explained 28% and 34% of the variance in physical activity and intention, respectively. Model fit indexes indicated the data were a good fit to the model; however, only self-efficacy was associated with physical activity at 12 months. There was no support for intention or outcome expectations as proximal determinants of behavior. Self-efficacy was associated with outcome expectations and parental support; however, only outcome expectations predicted intention. Conclusions: Current findings indicate a large proportion of the variance for physical activity and intention remains unexplained and that the proposed pathways in the SCT model were not fully supported. Future model testing may need to consider augmentation or integration of theoretical models, which may include ecological components if we are to advance our understanding of physical activity behavior in this subgroup of the adolescent population.]]> Wed 04 Sep 2019 11:33:46 AEST ]]> Mediating effects of the 'eCoFit' physical activity intervention for adults at risk of, or diagnosed with, asynchronous mode using mobile apps (n = 7) has become the main mode since 2017. Internet-based telerehabilitation was delivered by physiotherapists in 17 studies and by nurses in three. Most of the included studies reported that, compared to face-to-face rehabilitation, internet-based telerehabilitation showed a comparable improvement in pain relief, range of motion, physical function, and health-related quality of life. Patients had a high satisfaction level. Very few studies addressed the patients’ psychological well-being/problems and self-efficacy as the outcome measures. Conclusions: Internet-based telerehabilitation appears to be effective for and accepted by patients after total joint arthroplasty. Telerehabilitation could be delivered by nurses in collaboration with physiotherapists and surgeons as a team. The mobile app is an accessible and flexible delivery medium for telerehabilitation. Robust randomised controlled trials are warranted to enhance the quality of evidence on the effectiveness of mobile app-based telerehabilitation and nurse-delivered program. Qualitative components are suggested to be included in future research. Psychological outcomes should also be measured.]]> Fri 02 Sep 2022 12:17:24 AEST ]]>
